What To Expect

Welcome to Wild Rose United Methodist Church

Grace and peace to you on behalf of all of us here at Wild Rose UMC!  Whether you’ve attended church your entire life or never been at all, we know it’s not easy visiting a church for the first time.  It’s our job to make sure you are welcomed and cared for while you are here.  The information on this page is meant to help you have the best experience possible when visiting our church.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

Who are we?

Wild Rose UMC is a smaller, rural congregation with a long history of serving the Wild Rose community and surrounding area.  Our membership is made up of long-time residents, those who have retired to this part of the state, and seasonal vacationers.  We are part of the North Central District of the Wisconsin Annual Conference.  To learn more about the United Methodist Church and what we believe, click here.

When are services?

We have one service every Sunday morning at 8:30 AM.  The service is in the “traditional” style.  A typical worship service may include a greeting and opening prayer, time for people to greet each other, scripture readings, silent prayer and meditation, an offering, the Lord’s Prayer, the sermon, hymns, and a closing prayer. Click here to see an example of our bulletin.

Each service lasts about an hour.  You should arrive 15 minutes early so that you will have plenty of time to locate the building, get settled in, and greet those around you before the service begins.  There may also be an opportunity to share in refreshments and fellowship after the service depending upon the time of year.  Ushers at the sanctuary door will help direct you.

Are there any special services?

On the 1st Sunday of the month, our congregation celebrates Holy Communion.  We practice something called “Open Communion” which means we recognize this sacrament does not belong to any one person, congregation, community, or denomination.  It belongs to God in the person of Jesus Christ.  All are welcome at Christ’s table!  The only requirements are that you love God, love your neighbor, and love yourself.

We receive Communion by “intinction” which means you will take the piece of bread, dip it into the cup of grape juice, and consume both elements together.

Whenever there is a 5th Sunday of the month, we celebrate our United Methodist heritage with a Hymn Sing.  We gather 10 to 15 minutes before the service begins to sing a number of hymns selected by our members, regular attendees, and guests.

There are a number of special holy day services and other events that take place throughout the year.  More information can be found on our “Worship” page.

What should I wear?

We invite you to come as you are for any worship service.  What we wear should never be a distraction or hindrance to our being present with God and with our community.  We’ve had everything from jeans and t-shirts to dresses to slacks and ties.  Our building is air conditioned during the summer and heated during the winter, but please be sure to dress accordingly for weather.  Whatever you feel is most comfortable and will best help you to participate in the service.

What happens when I arrive?

First time guests are invited to park anywhere in our parking lot.  There are two accessible parking spaces directly in front of the parking lot doors.  They are marked with symbols on the ground and a sign (except during winter).

Ushers will be available at the sanctuary door to guide you and answer any questions.  The sanctuary is located just beyond the Fellowship Hall which is the room you will enter from the parking lot.

How do I get there?
